Dear Friend: We are pleased to share with you that Eleni Rossides has been named, effective immediately, ICAS Advisor to the Board of ICAS Liberty Tennis Classic, a USTA organisation, whose mission is "Invest in Youth Development ". Other members of the Board are Jim Delaney, Mark Ein, Kenny Holdsman, Erlan Idrissov, Won Hong Joo, Kuni Matsuda and Stan Smith. Eleni A. Rossides joined the staff of the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation ( WTEF ) as Executive Director in September of 2004. During her tenure, the Foundation expanded to include two campuses and extended its outreach to children throughout the District of Columbia. Opened in November 2012, the East Capitol Campus is WTEF’s state-of-the art community, education and tennis center in Ward 7. The center features six indoor and nine gated-outdoor tennis courts, three spacious classrooms, a 50-station computer lab and fitness room. It also has a 1,500-square-foot community room, staff offices and features an advanced security. With the opening of the new center, WTEF has nearly doubled the number of children enrolled in its programs. Eleni received her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where she was ranked number 1 in the country and won 4 national championships on the women’s tennis team. After Stanford, she spent eight years as a pro on the women’s professional tennis tour. During part of this time, WTEF’s present Program Director Willis Thomas, Jr., was her coach. Following her professional tennis experience, Eleni received her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and spent several years in the private sector. She served as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. She has important strategic and leadership skills; experience in business; and broad contacts in DC’s business, philanthropic, governmental and educational community. In October, 2009, Eleni won the 2009 EXCEL Leadership Award recognizing and honoring outstanding nonprofit leaders for excellence in the areas of innovation, motivation, community building, ethical integrity and strategic leadership. Most recently, she was awarded a Washington Smart CEO Brava 2013 award. Eleni was one of five nonprofit leaders in the District of Columbia granted this distinction. The award celebrates top females CEOs, who combine their irrepressible entrepreneurial spirit with a passion of giving back to the community. WTEF provides Eleni the ability to combine three of her greatest passions: tennis, education and a commitment to help children in need. Thank you. |
