We are pleased to share with you that Gilbert Rozman has been named ICAS Fellow, effective immediately.

Gil is the editor-in-chief of The Asan Forum, a bi-monthly, on-line journal on international relations in the Indo-Pacific region. He is also the Emeritus Musgrave Professor of Sociology at Princeton University, where Gil spent 43 years on the faculty after studying in the junior-year Critical Languages Program there and receiving his Ph.D there. Annually, he edits a book on the region for the Korean Economic Institute, drawing from four panels at the International Studies Association and elsewhere. Gil specializes on Northeast Asia, including China, Japan, Russia, and South Korea. His research has examined bilateral relations and mutual perceptions, national identities, strategic thinking, strategies for regionalism, and historical factors affecting policy choices. He has repeatedly assessed Sino-Russian, Russo-Japanese, Sino-Korean, Japanese-Korean, and Sino-Japanese relations, as they have evolved. In doing so, Gil has concentrated on sources in these countries that help to understand the causes of problematic relations. In The Asan Forum, he writes Washington Insights, reporting on events in DC that shed light on ongoing policy deliberations and proposals. At present, Gil is writing a book on how triangular relations are becoming the most useful framework for analyzing trends in the Indo-Pacific region.
