We are pleased to share with you that Harold Pyon will present a keynote address the ICAS Summer Symposium with a special emphasis on "Challenges facing The Korean/Asian-American Community" on August 12, 2023.

Harold has a long history of public service with over 30 years of experience shaping and leading change within communities across the Commonwealth of Virginia. In January 2022 he was appointed by Governor Youngkin to be Virginia’s Deputy Director of the Office of Diversity, Opportunity and Inclusion and was reappointed by the Governor in April 2022 to serve as the Virginia’s Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry. In May 2023, Harold was appointed by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares to be his Senior Advisor for outreach.

Harold has served in various leadership positions across Virginia. From 2010-2014, he served on Governor McDonnell’s Commission on Economic Development & Job Creation. In 2007, Harold was appointed by Governor Tim Kane to serve on the State Board of Election where he served as Vice Chair until 2011. He was appointed by the Governor Jim Gilmore to the Board of Visitors, Virginia Commonwealth University where he served from 1998-2004.

Harold previously enjoyed a successful career at the US Patent and Trademark where he recently retired from senior management after 33 years of service. He received a B.S degree in Chemistry from the Virginia Commonwealth University, a M.S degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Certificate of Advanced Public Management from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
