Biographic Sketch

Clarence Tong, ICAS Intern, is a Junior at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Political Science and Economics. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of Political Affairs of the Penn Asian Pacific Student Coalition, the umbrella organization for 17 Asian student groups on the campus and as the Events and Programming Chair of the National Asian American Student Conference (NAASCon). In addition, he has served on the boards of the Chinese Students Association, Asian Student Union, and the Asian Pacific American Heritage Week, and is an active member of the Penn ACLU Chapter and Inter-Coalition. Tong is a former Secretary's Intern of the United States Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and on the gubenatorial campaigns for Ed Rendell in Pennsylvania and Governor Jim McGreevy of New Jersey. He was a Pennsylvania Governor's School for Health Care Scholar in 1999 and a graduate of Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania.
