Gabriel L I Bevilacqua

We are pleased to share with you
that Gabriel L I Bevilacqua, Esquire has been named ICAS Fellow, effective immediately.
Gabriel
L I Bevilacqua, 77th Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, is a member
of the Litigation Department in Saul Ewing's Philadelphia office and serves as Chair
of the Firm's Health Law Litigation Committee. Gabe concentrates his practice in
complex commercial litigation, as well as the representation of medical specialty
boards, elected officials and Commonwealth agencies and municipalities.
Before
joining Saul Ewing in 1984, Bevilacqua served in the City of Philadelphia Law Department,
holding positions including Chief Deputy City Solicitor, Chief of Major Trials and
Chairman of the Litigation Department.
Gabe has handled many cases to verdict
and is recognized as a leader of the trial bar in Philadelphia.
He is deeply involved
in numerous professional and civic organizations and activities. In a decisive victory,
Gabe was elected to his current position as Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
He has held a number of leadership positions with the Philadelphia Bar Association,
including seven years as a member of its Board of Governors, and serving as Assistant
Treasurer and Treasurer. Gabe's service extends to the Philadelphia Bar Foundation,
as well, where he currently serves as a Trustee. He is a Past President of the Philadelphia
Bar Foundation. Gabe has also served as Chancellor of the Justinian Society.
Among
Gabe's other professional activities, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
to serve on the Appellate Rules Advisory Committee and to lecture in its "Bridge
the Gap" program. Gabe has served as an arbitrator for federal and state courts,
and as a Judge Pro Tem in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. He is a past member
of the Industrial Board of the Bureau of Labor and Industry of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania. Gabe is also a member of the Litigation Sections of the American
and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the
Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel and the National Association of Railroad
Trial Counsel.
Among his community activities, Gabe was a member of the Nazareth
Hospital Board of Trustees and of the Nazareth Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital and
Holy Redeemer Hospital Home Health Agency Board of Directors. He is a founding member
of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce. Gabe was designated
a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" by Philadelphia Magazine for 2004, and was honored
in April 2004 for his services to the legal profession and community by the James
E Beasley School of Law at Temple University.
Gabe received a BA from St Joseph's
University and a law degree from the James E Beasley School of Law at Temple University.
He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania.
