Dear Friend:
We are pleased to share with you that Jeff S Lee will address the
ICAS Summer Symposium: The Korean Diaspora.
Jeff S Lee is a landscape architect
and an urban planner who started his own practice in Washington, D.C. in 1987.
His firm has won many awards and prestigious commissions in the U.S. and worldwide.
Jeff is currently working on The Pentagon 9-11 Memorial and The U.S. Department
of Transportation Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Jeff was born in Seoul, Korea
and attended Haewa Elementary School before immigrating to America with his parents.
He spent most of his formative years in rural Southcentral Virginia. Although Jeff
received an appointment to West Point, he opted for a more traditional education.
Jeff is a graduate of University of Virginia's School of Architecture and attended
Graduate School courses at Virginia Tech as a Virginia Continuing Education Scholar.
Jeff
returned to Korea shortly upon his graduation at UVA to "re-learn" Korean while
working at Hyundai Construction Company's overseas design section. He represented
Hyundai as the site coordinator for $450 million Doha Sheraton Hotel and Conference
Center while stationed in Qatar.
Jeff returned to the States and worked at The
Architects Collaborative, Inc. in Harvard Square, Massachusetts before moving to
The Washington Area. He worked at EDAW inc. in Alexandria prior to establishing
his own practice. He is the former president of American Society of Landscape Architects(ASLA;
Potomac Chapter); Board member of DC Habitat for Humanity; Vice-Chairman, Committee
of 100 on the Federal City. Jeff is presently a Board member of Lambda Alpha International
and serves on The Mayor's Task Force to update The Comprehensive Plan for Washington,
D.C.
Jeff enjoys tennis, camping, fishing and working on his "Mid-Century Classic"
house and car.
