EDWARD F. CHACKERICAS FELLOW

We are pleased to share with you that Edward F. Chacker has become
ICAS Fellow.
Edward F. Chacker is 72nd Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association representing over 14,000 members. A native Philadelphian, Chacker is a founding partner of Gay & Chacker, whose emphasis is upon civil litigation, major personal injury and criminal matters.
After serving in the U. S. Army Signal Corps, he graduated from Temple University and the University of Toledo Law School. Ed, a former President of the Trial Lawyers Association, counts among his most significant achievements the annual sponsorship of the "Breakfast of Champions" to honour lawyers and law firms for their commitment to legal help for the poor through Community Legal Services of Philadelphia. He observes that equal access to the courts will always remain one of his highest priorities.
Ed has served on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP) and is a charter member of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation's Andrew Hamilton Circle, recognizing those who make a sustained commitment tot he Foundation's funding of legal services for the poor. He has been honoured by the Tau Epsilon Rho Law Society for service to the Bar and the community and has received the Equal Justice Award from Community Legal Services and the Chancellor's Award from the VIP.
Chacker has lectured extensively, sharing his knowledge and expertise with colleagues at sessions sponsored by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the Roscoe Pound Institute of Temple University, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, as well as the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Ed serves on the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and has chaired a Hearing Committee of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Within the community, he ahs served on the Board of Directors of Adath Jeshurun Synagogue, as a solicitor for the Lawyers Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, on the membership committee of Golden Slipper Charities and as President of the Cheltenham Little League.
He is married for 29 years to Sheila Chacker, a high-school guidance counselor, and they have two sons: Brian, a third-year student at Villanova Law School, who will be an associate at Fox, Rothschild, O'Brien & Frankel, LLP upon graduation, and Aaron, a second-year student at George Washington University. They reside in Rydal, PA..
