Remarks in Honor of Dr. Chong Moon Lee
Tami Overby
President, US Korea Business Council, US Chamber of Commerce
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sure you can realize my enormous dilemma having to follow the illustrious speakers who came before me. So, sir, if you will permit me to take a little bit different approach – what I’d like to do is inform you all that at 7:00 P.M. tonight, President Barak Obama announced that the US/Korea Free Trade Deal is finished. It is completed! And so I would like to say to you, Dr. Lee, that it is the vision and the path that you have set before us all that has brought our two countries together and has encouraged us all to continue down this path, continuing to grow the relationship of the United States and Korea.
I’m also delighted to tell you that Ford Motor Company Chairman Sandy Levin, incoming chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee, Chairman Dave Camp, have also endorsed the Korea FTA and on behalf of the US Chamber of Commerce and the US Korea Business Council and the US Korea FTA Coalition, and everyone else I can find – hopefully all of you in this room, we look forward to working with you all to get this done.
Ladies and gentlemen, we really want to hear it for our special guest. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Lee. Thank you.
Thank you.
