Grace Chung
Becker currently serves as the Acting Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights
Division of the Department of Justice. Grace supervises approximately 650-700 employees
in ten litigating sections. She previously served as the Deputy Assistant Attorney
General in the Division from March 2006-December 2007. Grace previously served as
an Associate Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Defense. She also has worked
as a federal prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the Justice Department, Counsel
to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Assistant General Counsel at the United States
Sentencing Commission, and an associate at the law firm of Williams & Connolly.
Earlier in her career, Grace clerked for Judge James L. Buckley on the United States
Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and Judge Thomas Penfield
Jackson on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She graduated
magna cum laude from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania,
and obtained her law degree, magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law
Center, where Grace was a member of the Order of the Coif and was an Associate Editor
on The Georgetown Law Journal.
