We are pleased to share with you that Ryung Suh will address at the ICAS
Summer Symposium on August 14, 2010.

Ryung Suh, MD, MPP, MBA, MPH, is President and Chief Executive Officer for Atlas Research LLC. Dr. Suh served for over
eighteen years on active duty as an infantry and medical corps officer with a diverse set
of operational, special operations, and military health system responsibilities.
Ryung has over fifteen years of private sector experience as a health care consultant,
policy analyst, and research scholar. He brings a wealth of public and private sector
health systems management experience and holds senior faculty appointments at Georgetown
University, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and the National
Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago.
Ryung is a combat veteran who has deployed to multiple overseas locations throughout the Middle East,
Southeast and East Asia and Central America. He served as a battalion surgeon with
1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), a flight surgeon with Joint Task Force Bravo,
and a task force surgeon with 10th Mountain Division supporting Operation Enduring
Freedom, where Ryung was awarded the Bronze Star. He managed a joint Deployment
Health Center and served as Command Surgeon of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency,
with oversight over a global occupational health program and medical authority for
highly sensitive nuclear, chemical, and radiological surety and medical surveillance
programs. Ryung served as the National Capital Region Flight Surgeon, managing aviation
medicine services for five military commands, and as Chief of Physical Examinations
for the DeWitt Health Care Network, overseeing the medical transition of active
duty service members into the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) system. Most recently,
he served as Director of the Policy and Planning Group for the VA Veterans Health
Administration, Office of Rural Health, managing national policy and programmatic
initiatives for our nation's veterans.
Ryung has held leadership positions for a broad range of health professional organizations and was a term member of the
Council on Foreign Relations and an associate member of the International Institute
for Strategic Studies. He has served as an advisor and consultant to the World Health
Organization, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Agency
for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Bureau of Health Professions, the Department
of Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans
Affairs, and other public and private organizations. Ryung has directed life sciences
consulting practices focused on strategic reimbursement and on health economics
for commercial clients focused on pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and biologics
and has served on the CPT Editorial Panel Advisory Committee, addressing coding
issues for health care reimbursement.
Ryung is board-certified in occupational and environmental medicine. He graduated from the United States Military Academy
and completed his medical, public policy, and management studies at Georgetown University.
His military qualifications include airborne, ranger, and static line jumpmaster;
and he holds a Secret clearance, with Top Secret/SCI clearance pending.
