John is Director of Research and Communications at Perry World House, the University of Pennsylvania’s global affairs institute. He served as chief speechwriter to the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon until 2017. John's new book, White House Warriors: How the National Security Council Transformed the American Way of War was released earlier this month by W.W. Norton’s Liveright.
