Kuni Matsuda
Kuni Matsuda,
ICAS Advisor to the
ICAS Liberty Tennis Board, President, Ivy League Tennis Greater Washington DC Area, emigrated from Japan to pursue advancement of his urban design and architecture studies after graduating from
Nihon University with a BSA and Tokyo University of Fine Arts (Tokyo Geijuts-Daigaku) with an MFA. Since
graduating from urban design studies at Harvard Graduate School of Design with an MAU, he has worked on several
major development projects at urban design/architecture offices. Presently, Kuni works at Konterra/Gould Property,
a real estate developer, as a director of planning and design, overseeing significant projects in the Washington DC
Metropolitan area.
Kuni is a registered architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and
with the National Council Architectural Registration Board and First Class Architect in Japan. He is a member of Urban
Land Institute (ULI), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC),
Arts for Aging Inc.
and various tennis activity organizations.
Outside of his career, Kuni formed sixteen years ago and currently organizes Ivy League schools alumni tennis as part
of a networking and social event. He received special appreciation for organizing tennis events from Harvard School
and Harvard Alumni Association. Kuni is a board of trustee member for AFTA, a non-profit organization that assists
the elderly in the metropolitan area. Several years ago, Kuni took initiatives as AFTA’s tennis benefit event chairperson.
He has received numerous accolades for his outstanding leadership of AFTA’s tennis activities.
